Project “Daneker”

"Daneker" is a project that provides assistance to care centres for orphans and children with disabilities. Through this project, the Foundation acts as a mediator between children's organizations and companies or individuals wishing to grant sponsorship. The Fund seeks to attract potential sponsors and to help these children's institutions financially or materially by identifying and addressing their critical needs. With this project, the Foundation bestows patronage on the following childcare institutions:



1)      Special Boarding School No. 1 for Deaf and Hearing-impaired Children,  Almaty ;

2)      Boarding School for Hearing-impaired Children, Almaty;

3)      Special Educational Organization for Children with Deviant Behaviour, Almaty ;

4)      Special General Educational Boarding School No. 9 for Children with Serious Speech Pathology.

 

 

This project works mainly in the following areas
• Conducting various activities with problem adolescents and children with disabilities: To hold different classes with the problem teenagers and disabled children: dancing and football, voice training and teaching how to play musical instruments and holding the psychological seminars.


• "Give a Smile" campaign to remove scars and other disfigurements that children suffer as a result of harelip and cleft palate surgery
• Infrastructure projects - to renovate the premises of the organizations under patronage.


Hence in September 2009, pupils attending the Special Boarding School № 5 for Hearing-impaired Children received a football field worth $6 million tenge as a gift from the joint-stock company «Lancaster Group Kazakhstan» and Dara Foundation. While pupils at the llya letey Special Educational Organization for Children with Deviant Behaviour and those at the "House of Youth - Zhastar uiyi" Adaptation Centre for Graduates of Social Institutions in Almaty received two fully-equipped computer labs with Internet access.

In addition, the Foundation renovated rooms at the Boarding School for Hearing-impaired Children, which had been in a critical condition (showers, changing rooms, and toilet areas on the first floor). 6 children also received laser treatment of scars as part of the "Give a smile" campaign.

Anyone can take part in "Daneker", since the project also welcomes donations of volunteer work and participation.
