Our projects

Dara Foundation has been implementing three projects. Mereke project is a programme to allow kids undergoing long-term treatment at medical institutions, based in Almaty, to spend their spare time better. The project involves kids undergoing anti-cancer chemical therapy and kids facing neurological problems and mentally diseased kids (National Rehabilitation Centre Balboulak and Children's Tumour Centre). Balakai project is a project to provide refresher training to the Kazakh physicians and to equip children's paediatric medical institutions (newborn intensive care department, the Research Institute of Paediatrics and Children's Surgery, National Rehabilitation Centre Balboulak). Daneker is a project to assist children's institutions for orphans and handicapped children (special boarding school for deaf kids, boarding school for kids facing hearing problems, and dedicated educational institution for kids with deviant behaviour).

Annual Charity Burns supper
Every year, on January 25th, the British Community celebrate Robert Burns birthday and get together for a "Burns Supper" (Burns Night).

Circus at “Balbulak”
On January 25th, "Dara" and the artists of the State Circus came to cheer up the children at "Balbulak" RCRC. We had not seen the children since last year and missed them very much. As always, children welcomed us very cheerfully.

Circus at Research Institute of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery
Every month within "Mereke" project our Foundation visits the children at the Research Institute of Pediatrics. On January 26th, our old friends from the State Circus performed for the kids for the first time this year.

The youthful team from the Special School №5 for Hearing-Impaired Children won first place at the City Mini Football Tournament which was held within the European/Eurasian Mini Football Week of the Special Olympic Games.
