The kids from the NCRC Balboulak looked forward to that day - 21^st May - , on which they were visited by a real magician who amused and impressed the audience with his tricks. But not the artists of the circus alone amused the kids. The kids were also involved by presenting their bright and colourful drawings to the artists of the circus. The charity foundation Dara presented them with meccanos in order for the kids to remember the holiday for long.  

Every month over 30 kids from all over the country take a very interesting tour of the south capital under the project Mereke. On 14^th May 2008, the kids saw the sights of Almaty: Archaeological Museum, Republic Square (the monument called the Dawn of Freedom, devoted to the events that occurred 20 years ago, Hotel Kazakhstan, the Palace of Republic, the cable car, and the Palace of Schoolchildren.

Boys and girls from all over Kazakhstan get treatment at the National Children's Rehabilitation Centre Balboulak. They are keen to see the sights of our city. On 17^th April, the staff of the private foundation Dara arranged a small tour of Almaty. They visited the following locations: Satpayev Street - Agrarian University campus - Republic Square - Almaty City hall - Presidential Residence. The kids wanted to have their pictures taken near the Monument of Independence in order to have the pictures by the "golden man" statue. Then they stopped by the National Museum of Kazakhstan. The guide told them about the values kept there in a detailed and clear manner.    

In the past five years the juvenile crime in Kazakhstan has fallen by more than 20%. For instance, last year the minors committed 5,400 crimes. However, in reality the offences committed remain dangerous to the public. Almost one third of the offences committed by the minors represent grave and particularly grave ones. Growing hard drinking by the minors is especially dangerous.   

As to kids facing big health problems, positive emotions not only make treatment less painful, but also support recovery. The staff of the Dara Foundation prepared a project Mereke in order to help the kids being treated at Balboulak spend their spare time better.  On 18^th March, the kids were entertained by the artists such as prestidigitators, jugglers, and juggling clown. The big redhead clown made the biggest impression. At the end of the show all the kids got such presents from the foundation as puzzles and chocolate. 

Seeing the main sights of Almaty normally starts on the Republic Square where the majestic living in the sky above the south capital the "golden" man is ruling the tamed winged snow leopard. Then you head for the Park after 28 Panfillov Guards.

On St. Valentine's Day the staff of the Dara Foundation decided to arrange a tour of Almaty. The kids and their mothers visited the main sights of the city on two buses: the Presidential Palace, and the National Museum. The buses stopped by the Republic Square, and the kids and their parents had pictures taken near the Monument of Independence. Then they stopped by the Park after 28 Panfillov Guards, where the boys and the girls fed pigeons and had pictures taken.

The staff of the private foundation Dara and physicians from the National Children's Rehabilitation Centre Balboulak become guides and tell the kids about the most beautiful city located at the north slopes of Zailly Alatau - about Almaty. In mid-January the boys and the girls spent two days seeing the sights of the city such as the Presidential Residence, the National Museum, the Republic Square, the Theatre after Auezov, and the building of the National Circus. They stopped by the Park after 28 Panfillov Guards, where the kids and their parents took a walk and took pictures. The buses with the kids on drove Dostyk Avenue, drove by the Republic Palace and the monuments of Dzhamboul and Abai.

And do you know who will turn up?



However, on 21^st January not playthings, but very real artists of the National Circus performed at the NCRC Balboulak! Acrobats, clowns, prestidigitators, a little trained monkey and a piton impressed the kids and their moms. The kids were very enthusiastic about taking part in the show. At the end of the show the staff of the private foundation Dara presented the boys and the girls with sweets, puzzles and colourful albums with stickers. The moms were involved, too: they were presented with the pictures of their beloved kids.

 

On 20^th January 2008, the smiling kids made the National Children Rehabilitation Centre Balboulak cheerful and bright. The kids were visited by the artists of the National Circus: merry clowns, dexterous prestidigitators and brave acrobats. The 1-hour show was behind in a moment, and the kids and their parents were very enthusiastic about taking up challenges and enjoying amusements. The burst of applause followed the trick with the trained pigeons. After the impressive performance some kids decided to collect bits of bread left after lunch so that by the next visits of the circus artists they prepare a performance with birds. Thanks God there are lots of feathered artists underneath the windows of Balboulak Centre! As usual, after the holiday the kids (52) got presents from the Dara Foundation: bright sketch books with paints and chocolate bars.
