On 11 June 2011, the Ice-Cream Festival was held in the Central Rest Park timed to the Children Protection Day. The holiday, which was organized by Bravo Plus Company was attended not only by families from Almaty, but also by children from Children's Homes and Boarding Schools, and Dara Foundation's wards - Zhanuya Specialized Complex and Balbulak Rehabilitation Center.
Kazakhstan manufacturers and distributors of ice-cream prepared over 300 types of sweets to the Festival. Children regaled themselves on snowy delicacy and "Buratino" beverages. Later, there were many entertainments for children in the festive town, such as contests, quizes, relay races and others. The charges of Zhanuya and Balbulak Specialized Complexes went for side-shows and "Ferris Wheel" several times at no charge. Children participated in the "My Favorite City" Drawing Contest, saw a festive concert, show and were presented baseball caps.
Then, there was one more surprise for children in "Rodina" cinema which is located on the territory of the park. They saw continuation of the famous adventure film "Pirates of the Caribbean Sea. On the Strange Shores". The cinema show for the charges of Children's Homes and Dara Foundation's wards was also free-of-charge.
Within the framework of the Ice-Cream Festival, the special attention was paid to charity. The organizers think that one of the goals of this holiday is attraction of attention and stirring up of the business corporations, public organizations and governmental authorities as to the social and material support of Almaty Children's Homes and children of needy families.
