Mission

Dara Foundation is a non-profit charity that serves the unprivileged children.  "Dara" mainly supports pediatric medical institutions, organizations for orphans and children with disabilities.  Mostly, projects evolve around the cases when such children are beyond the help of their own families, state institutions, and other NGOs.

Within the framework of its various projects the Foundation has conducted many campaigns and events such as:

1) Infrastructure campaigns as part of the Daneker project:

• together with JSC Lancaster Group, provided an artificial football pitch coating worth 5,500,000 tenge for the institute for children with impaired hearing
• together with JSC Kazakhtelekom, funded a computer class with 10 places for orphans with behavioral disorders at the dormitory  for children who have reached orphanage leaving age
• repaired and provided changing rooms, shower rooms, bathroom facilities in the institute for children with impaired hearing
• provided a dance room in the institute for children with impaired speech

2) Training for Kazakhstan doctors

• half-year training for a cardio-surgical team from the Syzganov institute (2 cardio surgeons, 2 anesthetists, 1 perfusionist) in Bergamo (Italy)
• internships for two reanimation  doctors in the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, USA
• Balbulak doctors' participation in a conference on how to treat infantile cerebral paralysis at the Kaluga Pinewood sanatorium in Kaluga, Russia
• Balbulak institute doctors' participation in the conference "diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation and preventative treatment for children's nervous illnesses" in Kiev, Ukraine.
• participation in a seminar entitled "Orthopedic-traumatology-prosthetics-rehabilitation" and given by Arkadii Borisovich Sheinberg (chief doctor at the St. Petersburg institute of Pediatrics and Children's Cardio-Surgery).

А) Association of non-commercial organizations, business and state sectors partnership

• The creation of an Association of Charity Foundations, which resulted in the realization of the Cardio-Surgery and Kazakhstan Without Orphans projects

B) Leisure activities for children undergoing long-term treatment

• 33 celebrations and 16 excursions were organized for seriously or terminally ill children undergoing long-term treatment in Almaty's clinics

C) Hobbies and professional training

• Lessons in Architecture and Sculpture in the Specialized Institution for Children with Behavioral Disorders
• Psychological work on the rehabilitation of orphans and the parents of gravely ill children

D) Assistance with equipment for children's medical institutions in Almaty

• Together with the Damiani jewelry house, purchased three Braun infusers and accessories for newborn children, for the Syzganov medical institute

• As part of the Cardio-Surgery projects, together with the Ayala and Dom Miloserdiya Charity Foundations, purchased Equator equipment, instruments used in operations on newborn children at the Syzganov medical institute

• Purchased a year's supply of BD Medical catheters for the Pediatrics and Children's Cardio-Surgery Institute
• Together with Mary Kay, as part of the Cardio-Surgery project, provided the intensive care department of the Syzganov medical institute with two Resuscitaire RW 82 open resuscitation units.

E) Operations for Kazakhstan children free of charge

• Together with the DARUS medical centre, helped the treatment of post-operative scars of children from special correctional boarding school No. 9 for children with severe speech defects (cleft lips and palates).

F) Lobbying for changes in public treatment for those Kazakhstan children requiring it

• Work is being carried out to being changes to legislation dealing with orphans
